Christian and Labour Movement in the Czech republic – KAP

KAP was founded in october 1996. Our aim is to study and spread the social teaching of the Church and apply it in social life. We organize member social events through our local organizations in Prague, Brno and Frýdek-Místek (Northern Moravia), and seminars (once or twice a year), the latter often in collaboration with the German and/or Austrian KAB.

Ou last seminar has dealt with Financial crises and their consequences for the world of labour. The lecturers have come from Austria, Czechia, England, Germany, Hungary and Switzerland. The seminar took place at the Pilgrimage House Stojanov, Velehrad (Moravia), 17–19 September 2004. We gratefully acknowledge financial suppport by the EC and EZA (Europäisches Zentrum für Arbeitsnehmerfragen). In 1993 we organized an international seminar in Bor/Heid near Tachov (North-Western Bohemia) to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the Bor Theses, which represented one of the first attempts theoretically to formulate a Catholic position on the social situation of workers in the modern era. Currently, at the invitation by EZA and with its financial support, we organize a platform of Christian organizations in the Czech republic to facilitate European social dialogue.
