RECONCILIATION OF FAMILY AND WORK CZECH REPUBLIC
Interview given by Lidmila Nemcova (Prague)
1. What is the situation in your country regarding the reconciliation of family and work?
The government is finishing with preparation of the family policy concept. The family policy is naturally inter-related with other policies – e.g. housing, social security, health care, education, women rights, demography, children policy, working conditions for mothers. In the Ministry of Labour and Social Affaires a new Department of Family Policy has been founded. The current problems of the society are as follows: the decreasing number of population (low rate of births), the increasing number of retired people, the high number of divorces (every second marriage ends with divorce) and the increasing number of single parent families. As to the latest event regarding the family the Czech Parliament has just rejected to accept the homosexual partnership as a family. (pokračování …)
To the Conception of the Man in the Czech Rule of Law
When considering the conception of the man in various law systems, it might be useful to pay attention to some a bit differing issues in the rule of law of the Czech Republic. I have not any needed information whether these issues are different also in other postsocialist countries. (pokračování …)
Let us do a bit of thinking: What is a Man?
What is his dignity? To what danger is he exposed by neglecting his dignity? For many of our fellow-citizens such a question may seem as a useless one or even as a nonsense. Why to think about that? In their view the man is remaining in the world just for a while and he should enjoy as much as possible in that time and first of all he has to seek his own profit without any respect to others. The society is only asked to permit this approach. From this point of view the people at the very utmost are ready to discuss the dignity of the man which is considered by them as their own rights. Slogans of media – proclaiming an egoistic profit as the principal engine of the society that finally brings a benefit to all – seem to be a convenient justification for such an approach. Nowadays the man has no more to feel shame of it. (pokračování …)
Christian and Labour Movement in the Czech republic – KAP
KAP was founded in october 1996. Our aim is to study and spread the social
teaching of the Church and apply it in social life. We organize member social
events through our local organizations in Prague, Brno and Frýdek-Místek
(Northern Moravia), and seminars (once or twice a year), the latter often in
collaboration with the German and/or Austrian KAB.
